WEEK OF LIBERATION 2025
HOPE AND LIBERATION FOR ALL
During the week of October 14 - 18, 2025, Salvation and Social Justice (SandSJ) will host a “Week of Liberation” —a weeklong event series designed to foster an environment of community engagement, empowerment, and peace. This event series will be driven by our Trenton Restorative Street Team (TRST) and our new Trenton Restorative Response Unit to promote powerful messages and opportunities geared toward uplifting the beloved community they serve. Furthermore, by partnering with businesses, community groups, elected leaders and residents, these events are designed not only to beautify the city but also weave a narrative of hope and liberation for us all.

RESOURCE FAIR
Liberation includes the ability to provide for ourselves, our families, communities and more. In this same spirit, we will host a Workforce Development and Job Fair for area residents. This event aims to connect residents with essential services such as job placement, healthcare access, and financial assistance.
We will also provide networking opportunities for local organizations to collaborate and expand their outreach. And with our returning citizens in mind, we will provide educational workshops on topics like career development, legal aid, and community programs. We look forward to partnering with local nonprofits, government agencies, and social service providers to set up booths and distribute information about their programs as well.

PEACE WALK
We are kicking off this week with a holy assembly to establish a tone of unity and harmony for WOL. We are encouraging preachers to deliver sermons on Sunday morning centered on the vital importance of this Week of Liberation. Next, taking place immediately after Sunday services, we will embark on a Peace Walk and Gospel Concert.
These sacred gatherings aim to be a vibrant and uplifting testament to the power of faith and music in fostering peace and unity. The city-wide peace walk will kick off in sanctuaries of participating churches after their services, with the procession leading us to Caldwell Park in Trenton, where the Gospel Concert will unfold in joyous celebration.

COMMUNITY IMPACT DAY
As we aim to not only serve this community, but to provide the impact needed to further empower them to serve one another, we will host a Community Impact Day focused on nourishment, safety, and solidarity. In partnership with Greater Mt. Zion AME Church and the Trenton Rescue Mission, this event will bring essential resources directly to the people.

Community members are invited to receive free food distribution, led by the dedicated missionaries of Greater Mt. Zion AME Church. In addition, the Trenton Rescue Mission’s mobile outreach unit will be on-site to provide harm reduction information and materials, including resources to prevent overdose, promote health, and support those navigating substance use challenges.
