OUR STORY

Faith, Family & Restorative Justice

Faith

BLACK FAITH, BLACK POWER!

Black faith is transformative and transcends. It’s what empowers us to eclipse our oppressor all while shining the brightest light on the path of truth.

When we were enslaved, houses of worship became houses of freedom. Though we were separated upon arrival, the Black church became as a place to gather, bond and become one.

Today, though our countrymen conspire to make America “great” again, Black faith still defies the status quo and acts as an ethical resistance to the “good old days”. It reminds us of the truth that will set us free and, through remembering to have faith that conquers, that we will be free indeed.

Family

WE ARE ONE...

To date, aside from our faith, there is nothing more important to Black communities than family.

Historical figures, such as Denmark Vessey, proved the unequvocal bond the Black family has, and the sacrifices made because how deeply its' rooted in love.

SandSJ seeks to strengthen Black families through various educational and community services as well as restorative justice practices, ultimately strengthening the communities in which they live.
