Our Story
Faith, Family & Restorative Justice
Salvation and Social Justice (SandSJ) is a Black led, Trenton based, statewide organization. Our mission is to abolish structural racism and liberate public policy theologically by modeling and building the hope and resiliency of Black faith, where historically marginalized people move from lament to liberation by advocating, envisioning, and creating their own community-led solutions.
SandSJ is a leading organization in New Jersey for racial justice issues. We are actively working on campaigns to Abolish the Drug War, create community led first responders, expand healthcare access to all especially Black mothers, desegregate New Jersey’s Schools, police accountability, and environmental justice

BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY IN ACTION
Our Roots
Black faith is transformative and transcends. It’s what empowers us to eclipse our oppressor all while shining the brightest light on the path of truth.
When we were enslaved, houses of worship became houses of freedom. Though we were separated upon arrival, the Black church became as a place to gather, bond and become one.

Who We Serve
BLACK FAITH LEADERS
By supporting Black faith leaders across the state, we promote social justice and racial equity within religious communities. We actively listen to and uplift Black faith leaders, provide resources and opportunities for leadership development, and create a supportive and inclusive environment for them to thrive.
BLACK FAMILIES IN TRENTON, NJ
We provide wraparound services for Black families, including mental health support, mentoring, housing support, job readiness and employment opportunities, entrepreneurial empowerment training, and more. We collaborate with Trenton residents to empower and support them in identifying, designing, and implementing community-led solutions that directly address the challenges and systemic disparities faced by Black communities.
